There are many, not many cooking schools in New York, courses for students. The French Culinary Institute (frenchculinary.com) has special classes for things like baking cakes, artisan breads, biscuits, etc. Check 'em out!

Go to the CIA in Hyde Park not only offer complete classes, but also offer short courses for the public on weekends and holidays. Also check out the food, I think that some classes are not locally or if you have any information that the city is new.
New York is a cooking school, my older sister was fast!
